• Could your wood windows be revitalized?
• Can you maintain your original wood windows and also be energy efficient?

Join us February 11 at 1:00pm at the historic Brennan House to learn how to effectively repair and update your historic windows. The cost is $20 for Preservation Louisville members and $30 for the general public.

Preservation Louisville is co-sponsoring this lecture series along with the Metro Louisville Historic Landmarks Commission and the Kentucky Heritage Council/State Historic Preservation Office. Hands on History programs are presented with support from The Brown-Forman Corporation. Throughout the series, participants will learn practical, hands-on techniques for working with original materials and finishes to maintain, restore and preserve historic elements such as plaster, woodwork, gutters, roofing and masonry. Adapting “green” concepts for historic structures and renovating historic window and art glass will also be explored.

At the December 14th meeting of the of  Cherokee Triangle Architectural Review Committee the Bordeaux/Willow Grand project review hearing was postponed until the January 25, 2012 meeting of the committee.

The post postponement was granted at the request of the attorney representing the developer, Timothy Martin.  More time was requested to review the recommendations of  and to meet with the Historic Landmarks and Preservation District Commission staff.

Preservation Louisville’s Hands on History  “The Anatomy of a Historic House” will be led by architect Gary Kleier.  The workshop will discuss the components of a historic home and will highlight how preservation is the ultimate in “green” Living.

With 33 years of experience, and specialties in historic renovation, restoration, and green concepts for historic structures, Kleier is sure to help those dealing with restoration and renovation issues in a historic home that are interested in achieving the most environmentally friendly results.

Peggie Elgin, Cherokee Triangle Association President, presented a $500 check to 5th Division Commander, Major Eddie Jones, in support of their Holiday Adopt-A-School on behalf of the CTA.  The LMPD 5^th Division has adopted Breckenridge–Franklin Elementary at 1351 Payne for Christmas 2011.  The donations from the CTA and other members of the community will support the 5^th Division in providing a holiday program of magicians, backpacks, and goodies for all the students of Breckenridge–Franklin.
