Another huge thank-you goes out to each of the over 300 volunteers without whom the Fair could not exist.  Our volunteers work for hours on the Friday before the Fair setting up the Food Court, Plant Booth, Children’s Art Tent and Association Booth.  On Saturday and Sunday volunteers man the booths, helping patrons select food and drink, plants and CTA logo merchandise and help kids make paper hats and objects of clay.  It is the volunteers who make this fair happen.  Volunteers include residents, friends and the senior class of Louisville Collegiate School.  Thanks to all of you.

Two extremely neighborhood-minded businesses also deserve much gratitude for their contributions to this fair.  Heine Brothers Coffee provides coffee as early as 6 a.m. on both Saturday and Sunday for the artists and volunteers who are preparing to open for business those mornings.  Keith’s Hardware not only provides the popcorn, oil and popcorn bags for the Fair, but allows us to borrow their in-store popcorn machine for the weekend.  Extraordinary neighborliness deserves high praise and patronage.

This Saturday, April 21, marks the second volunteer day of our 2012 season.  Olmsted Parks provides gloves and some supplies, but we encourage participants to bring their favorite gardening gear – rakes, shovels, pruners, etc.  We meet at the gazebo at 9:00 am for a little coffee and to coordinate our efforts and then it’s off to work.

3/28/12 – 900 Baxter Ave at around 1:15 am
3/28/12 – 1200 Baxter at 3:45 am
3/28/12 – 1250 Bardstown Rd
3/31/12 – 418 Willow at 4:40 am

No Robberies from Businesses in the area.

The suspects that Division 5 is looking for are a Black Male, and White Female who were involved. A baseball bat was used in at least 1 of the Robberies.  Cases are currently under investigation by Division 5 Detectives.  Also working with the 1^st Division who may have some leads on these suspects.

He recently sent us the following information:

On Tuesday April 3^rd at approximately 0615 hrs, just after opening the Dairy Queen at 1250 Bardstown Rd, a store employee observed via the security monitors a male, armed with a handgun and wearing a black hoody, crouched behind a partition in the front of the store.  The employee fled through the side exit and ran to the Dunkin Donuts to call 911.

The security video shows two males, one wearing a black hoody and the other wearing a blue bandana mask, run in to the restaurant just after the employee unlocked the doors.   The male wearing the hoody was armed with a handgun and crouched behind a partition.  The other male, wearing a blue bandana mask and armed with a handgun, ran toward the counter and then chased after the employee through the side door.   He then quickly returned and both suspects ran to the office area.  They attempted to access the safe but were unsuccessful.  One of the suspects stole the employee’s cell phone.   The suspects fled through the n/s door.

Robbery Unit responded and is handling the case.
