At the December 14th meeting of the of  Cherokee Triangle Architectural Review Committee the Bordeaux/Willow Grand project review hearing was postponed until the January 14, 2012 meeting of the committee.

The post postponement was granted at the request of the attorney representing the developer, Timothy Martin.  More time was requested to review the recommendations of  and to meet with the Historic Landmarks and Preservation District Commission staff.

The hearing has been rescheduled for January 25, 2012 at 4:30 p.m., most likely in the Old Jail Building at 514 w. Liberty.

We will update information on the hearing as it becomes available.

Currently the supporting documents including renderings, application, drawings and staff recommendations are available on the Louisville Metro SIRE site.  Case Number: 10953

Peggie Elgin, Cherokee Triangle Association President, presented a $500 check to 5th Division Commander, Major Eddie Jones, in support of their Holiday Adopt-A-School on behalf of the CTA.  The LMPD 5th Division has adopted Breckenridge–Franklin Elementary at 1351 Payne for Christmas 2011.  The donations from the CTA and other members of the community will support the 5th Division in providing a holiday program of magicians, backpacks, and goodies for all the students of Breckenridge–Franklin.

Researching Your Home’s Heritage

What do you know about your house’s history? Your historic home has stories to tell.

Have you ever wondered about the history of your home?

Who used to live there or what their lives were like?

This session of Hands on History will explore methods of research to uncover the story of your house. It is less about architectural history, and more about the history of the building and the people who owned and lived in it.

Learn how to use resources such as maps, census data, city directories, land conveyances, photographs, newspapers and local histories as well as where you can find these research tools. This session will give provide a guide to constructing a history of your home.

Join us on December 10, 2011, and learn how to research your historic home’s past, and learn about your own heritage along the way.

Preservation Louisville is co-sponsoring this lecture series along with the Metro Louisville Historic Landmarks Commission and the Kentucky Heritage Council/State Historic Preservation Office. Hands on History programs are presented with support from The Brown-Forman Corporation. Throughout the series, participants will learn practical, hands-on techniques for working with original materials and finishes to maintain, restore and preserve historic elements such as plaster, woodwork, gutters, roofing and masonry. Adapting “green” concepts for historic structures and renovating historic window and art glass will also be explored.
